"The fan run Fayetteville Comic Con is a welcoming and family friendly place that celebrates all forms and fans of American and World Popular Culture. If you like comics, cosplay, gaming, collectible toys, anime, cool tv or movies, Star Wars, Star Trek, Doctor Who, The Walking Dead and/or Horror, you’ll fit right in!
On one very special weekend -- Saturday, October 14 & Sunday, October 15, 2017 -- we will cram in as much fun and activities as we can . . . . we have tried many new things, some never seen before at cons, have learned from our triumphs and mistakes and promise this year's con will be the best ever!
The con will run from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Crown Center Exhibition Center. We advise coming early and also buying tickets in advance to avoid lines the day of the show and a possible sellout. Plus you'll get a discount for buying early! However, we assure you that every box office at the Crown Center will be open the day of the show to minimize lines.
Active military will get a discount on advance ticket purchases and children 10 & under are admitted free to the Fayetteville Comic Con if accompanied by a paying adult.
Our con will feature special guests from the world of comics and popular culture; MtG, Heroclix, Yu-Go-Oh and video game tournaments; panels; portfolio reviews; trivia contests; martial arts and swordplay demonstrations; door prizes; photo ops; free comics or packs of non-sports cards to everybody (while supplies last); and TWO BIG COSPLAY CONTESTS -- A JUNIOR DIVISION AND SENIOR DIVISION, with prizes galore, including one for best Active Military entrant.
Did we forget to mention SCIFI Speed Dating, Nerd Slams and aerialists?
DJ Clash from Winston Salem will be spinning tunes and keeping things moving along. He was a big hit last year -- where else than the FCC will you see a dozen Deadpools or Harley Quinns dancing in sync?"
When the Whomping Willows that line the Cayuga Lake Inlet were turning gold with autumn, a magical festival was born in Downtown Ithaca. Gabe, an employee at Boxy Bikes and his younger brother (Aiden) hatched the idea to transform Press Bay Alley into Diagon Alley for trick or treating; of course, everyone at Press Bay loved the idea, as it is already a place filled with whimsy and wonder.
What no one knew at that time was how inspiring the Harry Potter universe would be! Within days the event went viral online and thousands of people RSVP’d. This was not going to be a quaint trick or treat for a few dozen kids: families and fans from hours around wanted to come to Ithaca for a magical escape.
Quickly, Darlynne Overbaugh of Life’s So Sweet Chocolates, Bill Overbaugh of Ehrhart Energy, Laurence Clarkberg of Boxy Bikes, and John Guttridge of Press Bay Alley got to work. They brought Cornell University’s Raptor Club, a Flying Ford Anglia, and myriad vendors, performers and volunteers to downtown Ithaca–all with only days to sculpt a truly magical world, because by this time, MTV and national news outlets had picked up the story. More than 8,000 people were planning to attend.
When the big day arrived, no one quite knew what would happen. People arrived in outlandish costumes, their enthusiasm and their love of Harry Potter creating a community instantly. Local business owners rolled with the situation creating interesting products for guests to purchase. The Downtown Ithaca Alliance and volunteers pitched in to help. Wizarding duels, dragons, magic, owls, wizard chess, and wands truly enchanted Press Bay Alley for a day. Visitors received acceptance letters to Hogwarts, found their Houses, traversed the downtown in search of Horcruxes, and teams fought it out in a bicycle-based quidditch bout. Downtown Ithaca was giddily transformed into a magical world.
In the end, it was the imagination of people who brought out the magic in Ithaca. And it will happen again this October.

"Tidewater Comicon is the brainchild of founder Mike Federali who wanted to see a local comic book convention become a reality so bad he sold his entire comic book collection at garage sales, flea markets (and even on AMC’s Comic Book Men) to make the show possible. The first show was a one day hotel show with an over capacity crowd. Fans gathered, met creators, had a blast, and left with only one complaint.. More Space!
Thanks to the yard sales, fundraisers, Tidewater Comicon moved to the Virginia Beach Convention Center where it has continued to grow each year in space and attendance. In 2016, following an impressive Kickstarter campaign, the show reached it’s highest attendance so far with 23,000 fans."
